I cannot thank you all enough for the kind words about the stolen patterns. It has really meant the world to me as this has been very stressfl for me.

In the next few days I'm going to start removing some of the patterns. If there are any patterns you have not downloaded that you want, please write them down and email me. I'll send the pattern to you privately.

From now on the patterns are not going to stay up indefinitely. I'm going to start rotating them, adding and taking away at times.

Blessings everyone,
Brenda

Stolen Patterns

Hello everyone,

It has come to my attention that some of my free patterns are being stolen. They are being altered slightly and then put up for sale by other designers. Because of this, I will be removing some of my free patterns. I do apologize for this, but unfortunately I feel it is the only course of action open to me.

Blessings,
Brenda

Shirley Temple Doll

Hi Everyone,

I recently dug out an old Shirley Temple doll that I actually bought from my grandmother's estate. I found it originally in her garage, and it was accidentally added to her auction before we could stop it.

Anyway, I've been searching the Shirley Temple doll sites that I could find and the result is that now I am questioning whether or not this is a real Shirley Temple doll. Most of them were identified by the words Shirley Tempe written on the back of the head or neck, but mine has none. However, I also found out that many of the first composite Shirley Temple dolls were not marked at all (as the Ideal Toy Company, which produced the dolls) was not aware at that time how popular the doll would end up being. Still some dolls were identified with the writings inside the doll's head. But....I would really hate to have to take her head off to find out.

She also cries. She has a box in the back and when pressed she will cry.

Are there any Shirley Temple doll collectors, antique dealers, etc., out there that can help me? I would so appreciate it.

Click on the link above to see more pics of her.

Thanks everyone and have a blessed day,
Brenda

Inspiration

Crafters and artisans acquire their inspiration from many different sources; whichever one you ask will tell you a different story.

My inspiration though comes from you…my readers and from the messages several of you have so kindly sent me. These wonderfully generous words motivate me and keep me going.

I have posted them below (I have deleted the names in order to protect their privacy), but to those of you who have sent me these heart-felt messages I say thank you. For brightening my day and putting a smile on my face, I am forever in your debt.

“I love your dolls. You are very talented. I work outside the home and don’t have as much time to sew as I would like (who does!?). I am so appreciative of the free patterns you post - I check your web site on a daily basis to see if you have posted any updates. What a blessing.”
__________
“Thank you for the free patterns. The bear is what I have been looking for for a long time because I want to make plain little bears out of leftover fabrics and take them to the fire station for them to give when children are involved in an accident or fire. I also got the Scented Coasters pattern, Americana Sachet and the Shaggy Stars.”
__________
“I would love your doll tutorial! I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks back and put you on my blog roll. You have so many wonderful ideas that you share! You are so generous! I am hoping to get to work on a doll for my Dad's little rocking chair from when he was little. I have a doll but she looks rough and I want to make my own so badly. I keep looking at different patterns, trying to decide on a style for myself (I'm not one for following things step by step, to the exact T). But I haven't found many GOOD directions. Oh, and I would love to be signed up for your newsletter, too!”
__________
“I am interested in receiving your free tutorial. I live in SC and am considering to try to make a doll for my niece. This will be my first attempt. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me. Blessings.”
__________
“I just found your craft blog and really like it a lot. Could you please send me your free tutorial? Thank you in advance.”

__________
“I WONDER IF YOU CAN SEND ME THE PATTERN TO MAKE THE BEAUTIFUL ANNIE RAG DOLL CAUSE IS SO PRETTY AND I LIKE THE FORM OF HIS HEAD. Thank you so very much.”
__________
“Hi, I came across your site looking for craft patterns. My husband just lost his job after 35 years with the same company. I am disabled though I would like to find something to keep me busy and keep my mind off everything, however money is an issue. I was thrilled to see a pattern for an Annie rag doll just for the asking. Would you please allow me to have the tut? I have to say people like You make me See the world in a better way. God tells us to share our gifts (talents), and you must be a super person. I have never made a doll and I don't have a sewing machine but where there’s a will there’s a way, I would like to try making it by hand. I will ask around and maybe friends will have some of the materials I will need etc. WOO HOO I am so excited to at least try. Maybe I can make my grand kids dolls for Christmas. Doesn't that sound great? Well thank you so very much for sharing this tut with me. You will never know how much it is appreciated. God Bless.”
__________
“I just discovered your site today and love it. I found a number of patterns I want to make. I'm retired and not in the best of health so can't get out too much. Being retired I'm also on a fixed income. With inspiration from your patterns I'll be able to make new decorating items for our home.”

Ralph's Story

We found Ralph on one of our late evening jaunts to the grocery store. When we first sighted him, lying near the door in the dead of winter, we thought he was dead; he didn't move, raise his head, or show any signs of life. When I knelt down beside him though and touched his head, he came to life and the first thing I noticed was the gentleness in his eyes.

Once home where we could more clearly see him, we were dismayed. The tears began to roll as we realized the trauma this poor boy must have gone through in his few short years.

To read Ralph's story, go to the columns on the far right, find the column titled "Pet Stories" and click on "Ralph's Story."

The True Lillie Mae

My grandmother, Lillie Mae, was the one source of constant love in my life. She's been gone now for several years, but we were always very close. She was a farmer's wife and I absolutely adored her. Spending weekends on her farm were always filled with many childhood adventures; playing in the haylofts, attempting to jump from one small pig house to the other without getting bit by the big ole mama sow, but my absolute favorite was simply playing in the open fields. There I felt totally free. I could be anyone I wanted to be, with only my imagination for company. I named my business after her, and I created the Lillie Mae doll in honor of her.
